FileDeck (“we”, getfiledeck.com) collects as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what we collect on this website, why, and your rights over it.
Who is responsible
FileDeck is the data controller for this website. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Server logs — IP address and browser user-agent, kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
- Usage analytics — which pages are viewed, approximate (city-level) location, and device/browser type, via Google Analytics 4 and PostHog, so we can see what’s useful and improve the site. We never use it for advertising, we never sell your data, and no analytics are collected from logged-in administrators.
Legal basis
We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and understanding how it’s used to improve it. You can object to analytics at any time (see Your choices below).
Cookies
- Functional cookies are set only where needed — for example, to remember that you unlocked a password-protected demo section. These are essential to that feature.
- Google Analytics 4 sets its own cookies (such as
_ga) to measure site usage. - PostHog, our product-analytics tool, is configured to be cookieless — it stores nothing on your device and honours your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting.
Where your data goes
Google Analytics processes data in the United States; PostHog processes it in the European Union. We do not share your data with anyone else, except our hosting and analytics providers acting on our behalf, or where required by law.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, enable “Do Not Track” (which PostHog honours), or install Google’s official GA opt-out browser add-on to stop GA4 measurement.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data, or object to it. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention
Server logs are kept briefly by our host. Analytics data is retained no longer than needed for the purposes above.
