Plugin development & customisation services

Services

Hands-on help from the people who build FileDeck.

Custom plugin work, done-for-you setup and document migrations — built to WordPress coding standards by the developers behind FileDeck.

Plugin customisation

Need FileDeck — or another plugin — to do something it doesn’t do out of the box? We build tailored extensions: custom layouts and fields, bespoke access rules, and integrations with your CRM, intranet or line-of-business tools. Delivered as a small companion plugin, so your updates stay safe.

Plugin development

Custom WordPress plugins built from scratch — from an internal tool to a product of your own. We ship production plugins for a living: security-first code with capability checks and escaped output everywhere, a scoped quote before work starts, and documented handover with no lock-in.

Setup & migration

Done-for-you FileDeck setup: we configure your library, categories, permissions and branding, then move your documents in from SharePoint, Google Drive or a competing plugin — metadata intact.

Switching yourself? The switching guide covers the DIY route.

Agency partnerships

Building document libraries for clients? Pair the 50-site Agency licence with a direct line to the developers: white-label builds, custom features rolled out across client sites, and help scoping the tricky ones.

An example of the work

When someone moves an existing library into FileDeck, they don’t hand us a spreadsheet. FileDeck reads the old plugin’s data straight out of their WordPress database and rebuilds the library in place. There are eleven of those one-click importers, one per source plugin, and each is written against that plugin’s real data model — how it stores categories, how it expresses access rules, where it keeps download counters, and the places it puts a file path where you expected a URL.

They also behave the way an import into a live site has to behave: an interrupted run picks up where it left off, a second run skips everything already imported instead of duplicating it, and the source plugin’s own content is never modified — so you can switch back if you change your mind. That is the shape of the work: reading somebody else’s schema properly, and shipping something that survives being run twice.

The same standard applies to the plugin itself — how we test.

Where paid work starts

Plenty of things people offer to pay for shouldn’t cost anything, so it’s worth being clear about the line. Not paid work: questions about how FileDeck works — ask support, that is what it is for. Nor is a bug, or something FileDeck plainly ought to do already: tell us and we will look at fixing it in the plugin, where every customer gets it.

Paid work starts where the honest answer is “FileDeck won’t do that, and it shouldn’t — it’s specific to you”: a column that reads your ERP, an access rule only your organization needs, a migration from a system nobody else runs, a plugin that doesn’t exist yet. Every engagement gets a written scope agreed before any work begins, so you know what you are buying.

What we don’t take on: full site builds, theme design, hosting, or ongoing site maintenance. We build and ship plugins — for anything else you are better served by a WordPress agency, and we are happy to say so.
