Moving from WP Customer Area
The hard part of moving a client portal is not the files — it is making sure the right people still see the right things afterwards. FileDeck imports your WP Customer Area private files in one click and recreates each file’s owners as a client area, so the same people keep the same access.
One click, on your own site
Switch in three steps
Install FileDeck alongside
Add FileDeck Pro to the same site, with WP Customer Area still active. Your customers see no change yet.
Click Import
Go to Documents → Import & Export → Migrate. FileDeck shows a WP Customer Area card with the number of private files it found — click Import. It runs in the background, so a large portal will not tie up your browser.
Check the client areas, then switch over
Every file’s owners become a client area. Confirm a few before you swap in the FileDeck block and deactivate the old plugin.
What comes across
Files, structure, and — the part that matters for a portal — who is allowed to see them.
Private files & descriptions
Each private file becomes a document, taking its title, and its excerpt or content as the description.
Categories, nesting intact
Its categories, including sub-categories, are rebuilt with the same nesting.
Owners become client areas
This is the important one. Each file’s owners are recreated as a client area that those same people are assigned to — so access survives the move rather than being rebuilt by hand.
Files linked, not duplicated
The attached file lands in your Media Library and is linked to the document. Nothing is copied twice or moved on disk.
Why teams move to FileDeck
Search inside your files
Full-text search reads the contents of your PDFs and Office documents, not just their titles — so people find the right file by what’s in it.
Access control that scales
Gate categories by role, by password or to logged-in users, with client areas for private document sets and per-document assignment to named people — set once for a whole category, not file by file.
Honest, flat pricing
Your renewal never jumps, and a 30-day money-back guarantee backs every plan. No switch-and-bait discounts that spike at renewal.
Prefer a hand? We’ll do it with you.
Big or unusual library? We’ll walk the import through with you and stay on it until it’s live and you’re happy — and we’ll add the time left on your current plan to your FileDeck licence, so you don’t pay for the same months twice. No credential handoff needed; it all runs on your own site.
Questions about moving
Will my customers keep the same access?
That is the point of this import. Each file’s owners are recreated as a client area those people are assigned to, so the same customers reach the same documents. Spot-check a few before you deactivate the old plugin. See the full walkthrough.
What is a client area?
A private document set with named people assigned to it — each client sees their own documents and nobody else’s, with optional uploads and email notifications. More on client areas.
Do I need to export anything first?
No. FileDeck reads WP Customer Area’s data directly from your own site. There is no export file and no column mapping; keep it active while you import.
Is it safe to run more than once?
Yes. Every document records which source record it came from, so re-running skips what is already in rather than creating duplicates.
Bring your library across today
Move your client portal across in one click — files, categories and the people who are allowed to see them.
Want to look before you buy? Install the free version — it runs happily alongside your current plugin, and the import only runs when you click it. The one-click importer is a Pro feature; you can add Pro whenever you’re ready.
