Switch from BSK PDF Manager to FileDeck

Moving from BSK PDF Manager

Keep your PDFs, your category tree and your numbers, and replace the old plugin with a library people can actually search. FileDeck reads your BSK PDF Manager data right where it sits and brings it across in one click — PDFs, nested categories, descriptions, download counts, expiry dates and restricted items included.

One click, on your own site

Switch in three steps

1

Install FileDeck alongside

Add FileDeck Pro to the same site, with BSK PDF Manager still active. Nothing changes on your live pages yet.

2

Click Import

Go to Documents → Import & Export → Migrate. FileDeck shows a BSK PDF Manager card with the number of PDFs it found — click Import. Import as drafts first if you would like to review before going live.

3

Switch the old plugin off

Spot-check the results, swap in the FileDeck block or shortcode, and deactivate BSK PDF Manager. Files uploaded through the Media Library are linked where they already sit.

What comes across

One of the richest imports we support — the source records a lot, and almost all of it survives the move.

PDFs & descriptions

Each PDF becomes a document with its title (or its filename, if untitled) and its description. Files are found whether they were uploaded through the Media Library or placed on the server directly.

Categories, nesting intact

Your categories, including sub-categories, are rebuilt with exactly the same nesting.

Download counts & dates

Each PDF’s running total carries over, so your numbers do not reset to zero on the way in, and the original publish date becomes the document date.

Expiry dates

If a PDF was set to expire, that expiry date comes with it — the document stops being available on the same day it always would have.

Restricted items stay gated

Items marked restricted, and items sitting in a password-protected category, both import as documents limited to logged-in users, so nothing gated becomes public in the move.

Why teams move to FileDeck

Search inside your files

Full-text search reads the contents of your PDFs and Office documents, not just their titles — so people find the right file by what’s in it.

Access control that scales

Gate categories by role, by password or to logged-in users, with client areas for private document sets and per-document assignment to named people — set once for a whole category, not file by file.

Honest, flat pricing

Your renewal never jumps, and a 30-day money-back guarantee backs every plan. No switch-and-bait discounts that spike at renewal.

Prefer a hand? We’ll do it with you.

Big or unusual library? We’ll walk the import through with you and stay on it until it’s live and you’re happy — and we’ll add the time left on your current plan to your FileDeck licence, so you don’t pay for the same months twice. No credential handoff needed; it all runs on your own site.

Questions about moving

Do I need to export anything first?

No. FileDeck reads your BSK PDF Manager library directly from your own site — there is no file to export and no columns to map. Just keep it active while you import. See the full walkthrough.

Will my download counts be preserved?

Yes. Each PDF’s counter carries over intact, alongside its original publish date.

What happens to expiry dates?

They come across as FileDeck document expiry dates, so a PDF you scheduled to disappear still disappears on the same day.

What about restricted and password-protected items?

Both become documents restricted to logged-in users. If you need finer control than that, you can add a category password or a role restriction after importing.

Bring your library across today

Install FileDeck Pro, click Import, and keep your PDFs, categories, counters and expiry dates — in a library that searches inside the files.

Get FileDeck Pro

Want to look before you buy? Install the free version — it runs happily alongside your current plugin, and the import only runs when you click it. The one-click importer is a Pro feature; you can add Pro whenever you’re ready.
