On your own site
Switch in three steps
Install FileDeck alongside
Add FileDeck Pro to the same site, with BSK PDF Manager still active. Nothing changes on your live pages yet.
Import as drafts
Go to Documents → Import & Export → Migrate. FileDeck shows a BSK PDF Manager card with the number of PDFs it found. Choose Import as drafts, then click Import, so you can review the import before it is published.
Check, then switch over
Check files, categories, counts and access with representative accounts. Then publish and deactivate BSK PDF Manager: pages that still hold its shortcodes show the FileDeck library, link or viewer in their place from then on (see what happens to your old links), or swap in the FileDeck block.
What comes across
The importer reads each PDF record in BSK PDF Manager and maps these fields.
PDFs, titles & descriptions
Each PDF becomes a document with its title (or its file name, if it has no title) and its description as plain text. A PDF added through the Media Library is linked where it already sits; a PDF placed on the server directly is picked up from its stored location.
Nested categories
Your categories, including sub-categories, are recreated with the same nesting. A PDF filed in several categories joins each of them.
Download counts & dates
Each PDF’s download total becomes its starting count in FileDeck, and its publish date becomes the document date. The total is one number, not a history of individual downloads.
Expiry dates
A PDF’s expiry date becomes its FileDeck document expiry date. FileDeck keeps the date, not the time of day.
Restricted items become logged-in-only
PDFs marked restricted, and PDFs in a password-protected category, import as documents for logged-in users. The category password itself is not copied across.
Unpublished stays unpublished
PDFs saved as drafts or pending review in BSK PDF Manager import as FileDeck drafts, even if you choose Publish. PDFs in its trash are left out.
Review private-file permissions before publishing.
The importer converts restricted PDFs, and PDFs in password-protected categories, into logged-in-only access. That is not the same audience. Import as drafts or use a private staging copy, recreate the intended access rules, and test with authorised and unauthorised accounts before switching the live page. Each restricted PDF gets its own copy in FileDeck’s protected vault, so BSK PDF Manager’s file stays where it was and its links keep working until you switch. Access you add in FileDeck after the import is different: it moves that document’s file into the vault, so BSK PDF Manager’s link to it stops working. Once you’ve switched, delete the originals that no page or other document still uses.

Questions about moving
Do I need to export anything first?
No. FileDeck Pro reads your BSK PDF Manager library from your own site, so there is no file to export and no columns to map. Keep BSK PDF Manager active while you import. See the full walkthrough.
Will my download counts be preserved?
Each PDF’s download total comes across as its starting count, alongside its original publish date. Individual download events are not imported, so FileDeck’s own activity reporting starts from your import.
What happens to expiry dates?
They become FileDeck document expiry dates. FileDeck stores the date only, so check any PDF whose expiry was set for a particular time of day.
What about restricted and password-protected items?
Both become documents for logged-in users, which is a wider audience than a password. The password is not copied, and FileDeck protects its own copy of each restricted PDF, leaving BSK PDF Manager’s file where it was. Before publishing, recreate the rule you need — a category password, a role restriction or a client area — and test it with an authorised and an unauthorised account.
