Bulk convert Media Library files into documents Pro

If your files already live in the WordPress Media Library, FileDeck Pro can turn them into documents in bulk — no re-uploading. Select the files, optionally pick a category, and FileDeck creates one document per file with the title taken from the filename. The original files are untouched.

How to convert files

1. Go to Documents → Bulk add / export.
2. In section 1. From the Media Library (drag & drop or select), select the existing Media Library files you want to turn into documents — any number. (The same section also accepts new files by drag and drop.)
3. Optionally choose a category under Assign to category to apply to everything created in this batch.
4. Click Create documents. FileDeck creates one document per selected file.

What each new document gets

• A title taken from the filename.
• The file attached, with size, type, and filename captured automatically.
• The category you chose during conversion, if any.

After converting, it is worth a quick pass through Documents → All Documents to tidy titles, add excerpts or featured images, and refine categories and tags — see the document fields reference for what each field feeds.

Your originals stay untouched

Conversion does not move, rename, copy, or delete anything in the Media Library. The new documents simply reference the existing files, which stay at their current URLs. One later exception: if you apply Pro file protection to a converted document, its file is moved into the protected uploads area — the same as for any protected document.

Does converting delete or move my Media Library files?

No. The files stay exactly where they are; the new documents reference them.

What titles do the new documents get?

The filename of each file. Edit any document afterward to give it a friendlier title.

Can I assign categories during conversion?

Yes — one category for the whole batch. Add more categories or tags per document afterward on the edit screen.

What if a file already has a document?

Conversion creates a new document for every file you select, so leave out files that already have documents to avoid duplicates.
