Use FileDeck with Elementor Free

FileDeck registers native Elementor widgets, so you can build document libraries and inline viewers with Elementor’s drag-and-drop editor instead of pasting shortcodes. Elementor (free or Pro) must be installed and active.

Finding the widgets

With FileDeck and Elementor both active, edit any page with Elementor and open the widget panel. Search for FileDeck, or look under the General category.

FileDeck Library (free)

Drops a full document library into your layout. Controls in the panel let you set:

• Layout — table, grid, or folders.
• Category slugs — scope the library to specific categories.
• Columns — which columns to show and their order.
• Documents per page and sort order.

The widget renders the same library as the [filedeck] shortcode and the Document Library block, so search, sorting, filtering, and access control all work identically. It is included in the free version of FileDeck.

FileDeck Document Embed (Pro)

Embeds a single document as an always-visible inline viewer — the Elementor equivalent of the [filedeck_embed] shortcode. Search your library by title to pick the document, then set the height and whether to show the title as a caption. PDFs, Office files, images, audio, and video are all supported, and access rules are respected.

Access and protected files

Both widgets use FileDeck’s normal rendering path, so document access rules apply exactly as they do elsewhere: restricted documents show a padlock to visitors who cannot view them, and protected files are served through signed, short-lived URLs.

FAQ

Do I need Elementor Pro?

No. The FileDeck widgets work with the free version of Elementor.

The FileDeck widgets don’t appear in Elementor.

Check that both FileDeck and Elementor are active, then reload the Elementor editor. If you have just activated a FileDeck Pro licence and the Document Embed widget is missing, open a new editor session so Elementor re-scans its widgets.

How do I choose the document for the embed widget?

The Document Embed widget has a search box — start typing a document’s title and pick it from the list. (The [filedeck_embed] shortcode and block are covered in Embed a document inline.)
