Version history and rollback Pro
FileDeck Pro archives the old file automatically each time you replace a document's file. Restore any version — the download link never changes.
FileDeck Pro keeps a version history for every document: when you replace the attached file, the old file is archived automatically — no extra steps. You can review the history in the Version History box on the document’s edit screen and restore any previous version — and because the document’s URL and download link never change, visitors always get the current version at the same link.

How versions are created
Versions are recorded automatically. As the Version History box on the edit screen puts it: "When you replace the attached file, the old file is archived here automatically." Every time you replace the document’s file, the outgoing file joins the history — there is nothing to fill in or remember.
How to view a document’s history
- Go to Documents → All Documents and open the document.
- Find the Version History box on the edit screen — every file the document has previously had is archived there.
How to restore a previous version
- Open the document’s edit screen.
- In the Version History box, pick the version you want and restore it.
- Click Update if prompted. The restored file immediately becomes the one visitors download, and the size, type, and filename columns update to match.
Why the link never changes between versions
Downloads go through FileDeck’s endpoint (/fdk-download/{id}), not the raw file URL, so the download link is identical across every version. Links shared by email, bookmarks, and buttons on other pages all keep working, and the download count continues on the same counter.
FAQ
Can visitors download old versions?
No. Visitors always receive the current version; history and restore are available only in wp-admin.
Does restoring an old version change the download link?
No. The link points at the document, so it serves whichever version is current.
Do I have to do anything to record a version?
No. Replacing the attached file archives the old file automatically — versions are never created by hand.
Does the Free version keep version history?
No. Free lets you replace the file with the link unchanged, but replacements are not recorded and cannot be rolled back — see Free vs Pro.
