Try FileDeck with a sample library Free

An empty document library doesn’t show you much. If you’d rather see FileDeck working before you go and find your own files, load the sample library: nine documents across three categories, added in one click.

Visitors never see the samples. <!– claim-ok: verified by the integration suite — "sample: a visitor sees no sample document in a library", "any front-end query hides them from visitors", "the public REST listing omits the samples" –>They show only to logged-in editors, badged Sample, so you can build your real library alongside them and leave them in place as long as you like. Anyone else — a visitor, a subscriber, an embedded library on another site — gets your own documents only.

Load it

During setup, on the last step of the wizard, choose Load sample library.

Already finished setup? Go to Documents → All Documents. While your library is empty, FileDeck offers the same Load sample library button there.

What you can try with it

Every sample is a real PDF, not a placeholder, so nothing is faked:

• Search finds them by title and — with Pro’s content search — by the text inside them.
• Downloads actually download, and the download counter starts counting.
• Thumbnails generate from the files where your server supports it.
• Layouts and filters have enough content and enough categories to be worth switching between.

Remove it

While any samples are installed, the Documents list shows a reminder with a Remove sample documents link. One click deletes all nine documents and their PDF files.

Removal is careful about what it deletes:

• Only the sample documents go. Anything you added yourself is untouched, even if you gave it the same title.
• Your own files are kept. If you replaced a sample’s PDF with your own, that file stays in your Media Library.
• Categories are only deleted if they’re empty. If you filed your own documents under Policies, the category stays — with your documents in it.

Trashing or deleting the samples one by one from the Documents list has the same effect: once the last one is gone, the empty sample categories go with it. (Restore a trashed sample and it comes back without its category.)

So it’s safe to load the samples, build your real library alongside them, and clear them out whenever you’re ready.

FAQ

Will the sample documents show on my site?

Only to you. Since 2.94.0 the samples render for logged-in editors alone, badged Sample in every layout, and a library shows an editor a note saying so. A visitor does not see them — not in a library, not on a document’s own page, not in the REST listing <!– claim-ok: verified by the integration suite — "sample: a visitor sees no sample document in a library", "sample: any front-end query (widgets, popular block, abilities) hides them from visitors", "sample: the public REST listing omits the samples" –> — so there is no launch-day cleanup to remember. Remove them whenever you are done with them.

Can I edit them instead of deleting them?

Yes. They’re ordinary documents — rename one, swap the file, recategorise it. If you replace a sample’s file with your own, Remove sample documents will still delete the document but will leave your file in the Media Library.

Can I load them more than once?

No, and that’s deliberate — loading twice would leave you with eighteen documents and two of everything. If the samples are already installed, the button is replaced by the removal reminder.

Do they affect my download statistics?

They count like any other document while they exist. Remove them before you start paying attention to your numbers, and their counts go with them.
