Document pages: what each document's own page shows Free

Every document has a page of its own. Choose which details it lists above the Download button: reference, dates, categories, tags, author and download count.

Updated October 4, 2026

Every FileDeck document has a page of its own at its own address. It’s the page a library’s titles link to (unless you’ve set titles to download directly or show as plain text, see styling), the page search engines list, and the page people share. It shows the document’s description, then a short list of details, then the Download button with the file’s type and size beside it.

Free — included in every FileDeck install.

Choose the details

Go to Documents → Settings → Display → Document pages and tick the details to list:

  • Reference: the document’s code or part number (see reference numbers)
  • Published date and Updated date
  • Categories, each linking to that category’s page, and Tags
  • Author and Download count: both off until you tick them, since publishing a name or a number is your call

Reference, both dates, categories and tags are ticked to begin with. The file’s type and size aren’t part of this list: they sit beside the Download button.

What gets left out

A detail the document doesn’t have is left out rather than shown blank, so an untagged document has no Tags row. "Updated" only appears once the document has changed on a later day than it was published, so a document edited on the day it went up doesn’t show the same date twice. Untick everything to drop the list.

Who sees the details

The list appears for visitors who can open the document. A restricted document’s page says it’s restricted, a password-protected document asks for its password first, and a document that has expired says it’s no longer available; none of them list details or show a Download button.

Change how the list looks

The list is a definition list with the class fdk-single-details, so you can restyle it with CSS. To change its markup, override the document-details.php template in your theme. Developers can add or remove rows with the filedeck_single_details filter.

FAQ

Can the page show how many times a document was downloaded?

Yes. Tick Download count under Document pages. It’s off by default.

Why doesn’t my document show an Updated date?

"Updated" appears only when the document changed on a later day than it was published. Edit it on a later day and the date shows.

Does this change my libraries?

No. These settings only change each document’s own page. What a library shows is set by its columns.
