Document fields reference Free & Pro

Reference for every field on the FileDeck document edit screen — title, description, excerpt, file, categories, tags, size, type — and the columns each feeds.

This is a reference for every field on the FileDeck document edit screen and the library column each one feeds. Only a title and a file are needed for a working document; everything else is optional and can be added later.

Download count

Every document has a lifetime download counter, shown in admin. It counts every download served through FileDeck’s download endpoint and keeps counting across file replacements. See download counts. Pro adds a full download log with reports showing who downloaded what and when.

The full column list

Libraries can display any of: id, image, title, excerpt, description, date, modified, categories, tags, size, type, filename, link. Choose and order them with the drag-to-reorder column manager in the FileDeck Library block, or with the columns attribute of the shortcode. The link column is the download link itself, available as a button, icon, or text link.

FAQ

Can a document have more than one file?

No — one file per document. Replace the file to publish a new revision; on Pro each replacement is kept in version history.

Can I edit the size, type, or filename fields?

No. They are captured from the attached file itself; replace the file and they update automatically.

What does the link column actually show?

The document’s download link, styled as a button, icon, or text link. It routes through FileDeck’s download endpoint so every click is counted.
