Share a document: copy link, email and social Pro
A Share button on every document — copy the link, open the device share sheet, or send it by email, X, Facebook, LinkedIn or WhatsApp. Pro, and it loads no network scripts.

Visitors can pass a document on without leaving the library. With FileDeck Pro, a Share button sits beside each document’s Download button — in the table’s link column, on grid and gallery cards, inside folders, and on the document’s own page. It opens a small menu:
- Copy link — copies the document’s link to the clipboard.
- Share… — opens the device’s own share sheet (AirDrop, Messages, Slack, whatever the visitor has installed). Only shown where the browser offers one: phones, most tablets, and Safari and Edge on desktop.
- Email — opens a new message with the title as the subject and the link in the body.
- X, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp — opens that network’s own share page with the link filled in.
It is a Pro feature and off until you switch it on (see below). It loads nothing from any network until a visitor picks one: there are no share SDKs, like buttons or third-party scripts on the page. Each item is a plain link to the network’s share address, opened when it is clicked.
What gets shared
The button shares the document page, never the file itself: the document’s page on your site. That matters more than it sounds:
- A download link can be signed and expiring, sit behind a lead form or terms, or be restricted to certain people. That does not survive being pasted into a group chat. The page does: whoever opens it gets exactly what they would get arriving any other way. A restricted document shows its padlock; a gated document asks its question.
- With Pro’s supersede feature, the shared link is the evergreen
/d/{slug}address, so it keeps resolving to the current version after you replace the file. - The document’s QR code resolves to the same address, so a printed poster and a pasted link agree.
A visitor who cannot open a document gets no Share button for it — the button would carry the title and link, and a locked row should hand out neither.
Turn it on and choose the networks
Under Settings → Features, tick "Share" button on every document to switch it on site-wide; the row of checkboxes beneath it picks which targets the menu offers. Untick Facebook on an intranet, keep only Copy link and Email for a client portal, and so on. Untick all of them and the button disappears rather than opening an empty menu.
Per library
Turn the button on or off for one library without touching the site setting:
[filedeck enable_share="0"]
enable_share="1" turns it on for one library while the site setting is off, which is the shipped default. The library still uses the site’s network selection. The document page follows the site setting, not the shortcode.
